The Stanislaus County Commission for Women and the Prospect Theater Project invite you to get involved! Read a 15-20-minute section of George Orwell's 1984 during our all-day Read-a-Thon on July 18, 2026. Sign up below for the hour during which you'd like to read. You'll be contacted soon to confirm your time, and in early July, we will send you the scanned section you'll read so you can practice ahead of time if you choose. We will be starting at 8:00am sharp and reading until we're done, though there will be intermissions between each of the three sessions.
We've divided the novel into 37 sections, and are allowing 15-20 minutes per section. Some sections may run shorter or longer. There will be about 3 reading slots each hour. You may choose multiple hours. You will be notified of your approximate reading time, and we ask that you arrive…
